Young Professional Virtual Seminar (YPVS)

• Dr. Yuhua Sun gave a presentation on how to collect and summarize public opinions at the intersection of law and international affairs. Dr. Yuhua Sun's has been providing analysis on public opinions to policy makers in China for years.
• FLIA Research Fellow, Aisi Zhang, shared how to make a great conference presentation on July 28. Aisi Zhang is an SJD Candidate at University of Illinois College of Law. She has attened and presented at many academic conferences. She also provided useful materials on how to make general presentations.

On September 23, 2017, Shujun Zhong, who is now an MPA candidate at Cornell University, gave a presentation on her experience about working at the UN.

On August 4, FLIA held a brainstorming seminar on how to develop research-based nonprofit organizations.

Xiaoran Jiang shared her recent research on the foreign policy of the US towards Taiwan. Historical issues and some recent diplomatic events were addressed in the presentation.

Shaoming Zhu shared her views about the importance of educating ourselves as global citizens and the knowledge and skills one should have to do so.

Sean Jorgensen first introduced the definition of culture, culture shock, and cultural competence, and then examined the GLOBE Project’s study of national cultures. The presentation provided the audience useful tools and tips for increasing their cultural competence in the professional world.

Shaoming Zhu shared her experience with doing research related to the topics at the intersection of law and international affairs. She introduced the major methods and database to find useful materials and information.

Patricia Simone, Flora Sapio, and Antonio Angotti shared their experiences working in international organizations. They also introduced how to find an internship at international organizations.

Mr. Chen, who runs a WeChat account with 300,000 followers, shared his experiences with using WeChat to connect with audience and introduced the important principles and methods to operate a succesful WeChat account.
